Region II is Cagayan Valley.
It is located in the northeastern part of Luzon.
It is bounded in the north by the Bashi Channel, in the south by
Region III, in the east by the Philippine Sea, and in the west by the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).
Cagayan Valley includes the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Batanes.
Mountains surround the provinces of Region II, with the exception of Batanes. The Cordillera Mountain Range is in the west and the Sierra Madre Mountain Range is in the east. These mountain ranges protect the region from typhoons. They also prevent much rain from falling on the region when the winds blow over the Ilocos Coast and the Pacific Coast. Batanes is an archipelago far north. It lies in the path of the typhoons.
Cagayan River, the longest and largest river in the country flows toward the north and its mouth is in the Babuyan Channel.
Its tributaries are Chico River Magat River and Ilagan River.
Climate
It rains throughout the year in this region.
The dry season is short, lasting from one to three months only.
Beautiful Spots
The Callao Caves in Peñablanca are limestone caves with seven chambers.
Calvary Hills is an 11-hectare rolling terrain overlooking Cagayan River.
Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Ecija are connected by zigzag road, the Dalton Pass.
The Salinas Salt Springs in Bayombong are a natural wonder of hills made entirely of petrified white salt.
